- The problem we are solving
Patients deserve to understand
their own care.
"I've spent fifteen minutes explaining a diagnosis clearly - and my patient still leaves not knowing what to do next. That's not their failure. It's a system failure."
- Dr. Look, Orthopedic Spine Surgeon
Medical appointments are short. The words are technical. The stakes are high. Patients nod along and then step into the parking lot with a diagnosis they can't spell, a report they can't read, and instructions they can't quite remember.
This gap between what doctors say and what patients understand leads to anxiety, missed follow-ups, unnecessary repeat calls, and worse outcomes. We built OrthoExplain to close it.
- How it works
Three tools. One clear picture of your musculoskeletal health
- Features
Built for the moments that actually matter.
- A note from our founders
We built the tool we wish our patients had.
There's a moment I see in nearly every consult. A patient sits across from me, nodding. We've talked through their MRI, their options, the pros and cons of surgery versus physical therapy. I've been clear, I think — thorough, unhurried.
Then they leave. And twenty minutes later, I receive a patient message. "What did you mean when you said the disc was herniated? Should I be worried about that? What does foraminal mean?"
They weren't confused because they weren't paying attention. They were confused because the language of medicine is genuinely hard — and the visit moved fast — and no one gave them a way to hold onto what they'd just been told.
My husband and I built OrthoExplain because we couldn't stop thinking about that gap. As an anesthesiologist and a spine surgeon, we've both spent our careers on the other side of that conversation. We know what the words mean. Most patients don't — and there's no reason they should have to figure it out alone.
OrthoExplain is free right now because we want to hear from you. What helps? What's confusing? What do you still wish you understood? Your experience will shape everything we build next.

What you're probably wondering
How do you protect my data?
Your privacy is our priority. We are fully HIPAA-compliant, using bank-grade encryption to keep your details safe. We never sell your health information and only record with your explicit consent. We've designed OrthoExplain with privacy at the forefront. Your recordings and reports are your data. We do not sell or share your health information. Full privacy policy available on the app.
Can I rely on these explanations?
While AI generates the initial plain-English translations, they are reviewed and refined for accuracy by a practicing orthopedic spine surgeon to ensure you receive reliable, physician-overseen information. You're not getting an algorithm alone — you're getting physician oversight.
What is your clinical expertise?
OrthoExplain is built by a practicing anesthesiologist and a practicing orthopedic spine surgeon. We focus specifically on spine and musculoskeletal conditions where we can ensure clinical common-sense standards are met.
Does this replace my doctor?
Absolutely not — and it's not meant to. OrthoExplain helps you understand and remember what your doctor has already told you. It makes you a better-informed patient, not a self-diagnosing one.
Yes, completely free during our beta period. We want real patients using OrthoExplain and giving us honest feedback before we decide on pricing. You'll have plenty of notice before anything changes. Right now we're focused on musculoskeletal and spine care — that's where our clinical expertise lies.
Is this tool free to use?
Can my clinic use this for their patients?
We'd love to talk. We're offering free pilot programs to select practices during our beta phase. Reach out at Multifidus.Systems@gmail.com and we'll set up a call.
